Dennis Murphy, Vice President of Marketing, is responsible for the Electric Power Research Institute's (EPRI) external communications, public relations and marketing strategy. An accomplished communications executive with more 20 years experience, Murphy has led global communications organizations for two Fortune 20 companies. Prior to joining EPRI in October of this year, he served as Vice President of Internal Communications for The Home Depot in Atlanta where his responsibilities entailed leading all internal communications for more than 360,000 associates as well as helping support internal messaging for the business' senior leadership team. Murphy spent most of his career with General Electric (GE) Energy where, for 17 years, he progressed through a number of steadily expanding commercial and communications positions with his last role being Manager of Global Marketing Communications. In his time at GE, other roles included Marketing Communications Manager for Asia, Six Sigma Communications Leader, Manager of Global Sales Communications and Commercial Leader for GE Energy's e-business initiatives. Formerly a communications professor (Marietta College, Ohio), Murphy has won numerous national and international awards for commercial and communications excellence. Murphy is a graduate of Marietta College (Ohio) and attended the Ohio University for a Master of Arts in communications. He also holds a Master of Science in sports management from the United States Sports Academy (Mobile, Alabama). |
