Derek Williams is Executive Vice President of Oracle Corporation. In this role he provides overall leadership for Oracle Japan. He also serves as the company's top ambassador for industry government and policy within the region.
Previously Mr. Williams has been at the helm of Oracle's Asia Pacific operations since it was established in 1991 and Japan since 2000. Under his overall stewardship the company's total revenues in Asia Pacific and Japan have grown to nearly US$3.2 billion in fiscal year 2008. Today Oracle has 75 offices in 29 countries in Asia Pacific including Japan.
Among his key accomplishments is the development of Oracle's business in China and India. Oracle China today operates in more than 24 cities developing local innovations through its five development and solution centers including the Oracle Asia Research and Development Centers in Beijing and Shenzhen the E-Government Center of Expertise in Beijing the Financial Services Industry Center of Expertise in Chengdu and the Neusoft-Oracle Center of Expertise. In recognition of his contribution to the development of the Chinese software industry Mr. Williams was awarded an Honorary Professorship from Shanghai Textile University in 1995.
Mr. Williams has grown Oracle's business in India into one of the company's top four revenue-generating countries in Asia Pacific excluding Japan. Oracle India today operates in more than 20 cities developing local innovations through its three development and solution centers including the Oracle Asia Research and Development Center in Gurgaon the Oracle-HP E-Governance Center of Excellence and the Oracle Retail Center of Expertise in Bangalore. Oracle also has two global development centers as well as Indian hubs for Oracle's global support consulting and financial services operations.
