Biography
Derek W. Anderson joined Kelly Hart & Hallman in 1999 after graduating cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law, where he served as a casenote editor on the Texas Tech Law Review. Prior to attending law school, he served as a Cryptologic Technician in the United States Navy, then obtained his bachelors of business administration, cum laude, in 1996 from the University of Miami. He is now a partner in the firms Litigation practice group.
Over the course of Mr. Andersons practice, he has represented numerous individual and corporate clients over a broad spectrum of matters in civil litigation. He has developed concentration areas in breach of contract actions, insurance coverage disputes (including duty to defend and bad faith actions), and numerous business tort actions. In addition, he has become a lawyers lawyer in a literal sense, in that he has developed a practice in defending legal malpractice claims against attorneys from other law firms.
Outside the firm, Mr. Anderson serves on the board of directors of GRACE, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to those who are struggling with a limited income or recent emergency. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and golf. Mr. Anderson also likes to read World War II histories, particularly those authored by Stephen Ambrose.
