Des heads up PSI's Malaria Control Department and oversees PSIs malaria control programs in 25 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Dr. Chavasse has a PhD from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (University of Liverpool) and was a Lecturer in Medical Entomology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine between 1991 and 1998.
He has 17 years experience in the control of vector borne diseases with principal focus on malaria, including the analysis of ITN delivery models in the field. He has published papers on control of onchocerciasis, fly-borne diarrhoeal diseases and mosquito breeding and written/edited the following books: "Insecticide treated net projects: a handbook for managers" (Chavasse, Reed and Attawell; Malaria Consortium; 1999) and "Chemical methods for the control of vectors and pests of public health importance" (Chavasse and Yap; WHO, 1997) |
