Don Kopczynski is vice president for Avista Corp., and vice president of transmission and distribution operations for Avista Utilities. Previously, he was general manager of energy delivery for Avista Utilities. Kopczynski has gained broad insights in the utility business, having worked for Avista for over two decades.
Kopczynski began his career with Avista in 1979 as an electrical engineer. Since then he has been promoted to various positions, including: district manager, customer service manager, resource optimization manager, director of generation and resources, director of engineering at Avista Labs, and president of Avista Fiber. He also took the lead for the company on a number of mergers and acquisitions.
A graduate of the University of Idaho, Kopczynski earned a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1978. He later attended Washington State University to attain a master�s degree in business and Gonzaga University where he attained a master�s degree in organizational leadership.
Kopczynski is a board member for various outside organizations including the Eastern Washington University Foundation board, the Washington State University engineering executive advisory board and the University of Idaho Northern Idaho advisory board. |
