Prior to joining Suss Consulting, Mr. Scott was Senior Vice President, EDS U.S. Government Solutions, with responsibility for over $300M/yr in revenue supporting civilian government clients. Other EDS assignments over the past eight years included supporting the capture of large procurements for military, civilian and state and local clients. In addition, Mr. Scott served as EDS�s representative on a number of association boards and supported CIOs in furthering their missions with the IT vendor community. Don has superior knowledge of and relationships with both military and civilian government and industry executives.
Mr. Scott spent over eight years as Corporate Vice President of Government Relations for GTE Government Systems. His responsibilities included the management of the Government Relations staff that supported the four strategic business units of GTE Government Systems, maintaining senior executive relationships with congressional offices and the executive branch, and representing the corporation in the information technology community.
During his distinguished government career, Don Scott had senior positions ranging from developing inertial guidance systems for the Air Force; Chief Engineer for an Army facility developing tactical communications and aircraft control systems; managed an Army organization developing strategic worldwide telecommunications networks; managed the DOE nationwide telecommunications and IT capabilities and represented DOE as a charter member of the Committee of Principals. He also served as the regional NARA Commissioner and GSA Regional Commissioner for its IT and telecommunications; and as the GSA Assistant Administrator for FTS 2000, the multi-billion nationwide telecommunications system.
Don has been a strong supporter of the IT and telecommunications trade associations (AFCEA, EIA, GEIA, IAC and ITAA) during both his government and industry careers and served on their executive committees and boards for many years.
Don has a deep commitment to improving the government acquisition process, and believes it is excessively expensive and needs to be more responsive. He has devoted significant time to efforts for improvements during both his government and industry service. He has been granted many awards during his government and industry assignments 4 Federal 100 awards, GCN Lifetime IT Achievement Award, SES Distinguished Service and Government Administrator of the Year.
