Don Waterman was named to the position of vice president/operations in March 2005 after returning to Ottaway as the corporate circulation director in October 1999. He began his career in 1967 at The Enterprise in Brockton, Mass., as a summer driver while attending college and became that paper's first circulation director in 1978. After starting a Sunday edition in 1981, Don left The Enterprise in 1985 to become circulation manager at The Patriot Ledger in Quincy, Mass. In 1987, he joined the Middlesex News in Framingham as circulation director and in May 1990, accepted the position of circulation director at the Cape Cod Times. In 1998, Don was named to the new position of consumer marketing director at Cape Cod.
Don has been an active member of many newspaper organizations including the circulation federation of the Newspaper Association of America and the New England Association of Circulation Executives where he served as an officer and board member for 12 years and headed training conferences for nine years. Don has been honored by being named as the New England Circulation Executive of the Year in 1996 and in 1999, received the 29th Lifetime Achievement Award from NAA and Editor and Publisher magazine. Don and his wife, Laura, are the parents of five children, Amy, Tracey, Jennifer, Patrick and Ryan, one granddaughter, Kaitlyn, and grandsons, Alex and Ryan.
In his new position, Don retains overall responsibility for corporate and paper circulation initiatives as well as oversight of Cape Cod, New Bedford, Portsmouth and Nantucket. |
