Mr. Mattes is the retired CEO of Andover Controls Limited where he was responsible for all of the European operations. Under his direction, sales increased two and a half times and operating profit by eighteen percentage points during an eight year period in a nearly stagnant market. Mr. Mattes, a founder of Andover Controls, began as Senior Vice President responsible for product development and a Director as the company grew and completed an Initial Public Offering six years later. Following his graduation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with B.S and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering, Mr. Mattes entered the aerospace industry where he was responsible for the design and project management of components and subsystems for satellites, most notably the attitude control computer for the original GPS satellites. Mr. Mattes was also President of Savant Instruments, a manufacturer of laboratory equipment where sales and profits tripled in four years. Following Savant�s acquisition by Life Sciences International, he led the acquisition and successful turn-around of International Equipment Company, a manufacturer of laboratory and clinical centrifuges. |
