Don practices primarily in the area of family law and is a North Carolina State Bar Board Certified Family Law Specialist. Don's expertise in family law and litigation includes serving as a law professor in North Carolina (Campbell University School of Law) for nine years, and in Chicago (Chicago-Kent College of Law) for two years. In addition, Don assisted North Carolina Superior Court Judges for seven years as an adviser to the NC Pattern Jury Instruction Committee. Prior to joining the law firm, Don also engaged in civil litigation involving all aspects of family law as the Supervising Attorney of a family law clinic operated in collaboration with the NIU College of Law. His litigation background also includes having prosecuted numerous jury trials and bench trials in Illinois as a State s Attorney. Don received his B.S.W., magna cum laude, M.S.W. and J.D., cum laude, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While a practicing attorney, Don also successfully completed intensive training at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy at the Notre Dame Law School. Don is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, Illinois and Wisconsin. He is also licensed before the United States Supreme Court and several other federal courts.
