President and CEO of LMI since 2002, Admiral Pilling served as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy for 35 years, retiring in 2000 as the Navy�s chief operating officer and second ranking admiral. He commanded at all levels, from ship to battle group to fleet and, while on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, was responsible for the Navy's strategic planning, including the five-year defense plan. He is a member of the Defense Science Board, White House Fellows Commission, and Council on Foreign Relations and a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. He serves on the Boards of the Naval War College, Applied Physics Laboratory, and National Defense Industrial Association. He received his bachelor of science degree in engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and his PhD in mathematics from the University of Cambridge, England. |
