Donald L. "Pat" Shalmy is President of Nevada Power. He joined Nevada Power in May 2002 as Senior Vice President and was made President in July 2002. From January through May, 2002 he was Director of Government and Community Relations for Kummer, Kaempfer, Bonner and Renshaw.
Prior to assuming that position, Shalmy was President of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, the third largest Chamber in the United States, with 7,000 members and a staff of 60. Under his leadership from 1997-2001, the Chamber was recognized as the most influential voice of business in the State of Nevada. He was selected as Executive of the Year in 1999 by the Western Area Chamber Executives. He was recognized for excellence in financial management communications, legislative affairs, membership services and for extensive community services.
From 1979 to 1997 Shalmy worked for Clark County. He was Director of Comprehensive Planning until 1984 when he was appointed County Manager and he served in that capacity until April, 1997. In this capacity Shalmy played a key role in shaping Las Vegas into a dynamic business community and a celebrated tourist destination.
Shalmy attended the University of Arkansas where he earned a Bachelor's Degree. He also attained a Master of Science Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Arizona. |
