Dr. Donna S. Wayner is President and CEO of Hear Again, Inc. and the former Director of The Hearing Center at the Albany Medical Center Hospital, Albany, New York. She has served as an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Albany Medical College, Adjunct Professor at The College of Saint Rose and consultant to the Deafness Research Foundation and various organizations and agencies. Well known in the field of hearing impairment and rehabilitation, Dr. Wayner has made numerous presentations at national and international conferences.
A published author, she has written several books, book chapters and articles. Her recent books include Learning to Hear Again: An Audiologic Rehabilitation Guide, Hear What You've Been Missing: Coping with Hearing Loss, Learning to Hear Again with a Cochlear Implant: Clinician's Manual, A User's Guide and A Personal Journal, Better Communication and Hearing Aids: Guide to Hearing Aid Use, Hearing and Learning: A Guide to Helping Children and Voices from a Quieter Land: Insights Into the Impact of Hearing Impairment.
She has received many honors including the Outstanding Clinical Achievement in Human Communication Sciences and Disorders in New York State from The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation, the New York State Speech-Language Hearing Association nomination for the ASHA Foundation Louis M. DiCarlo Award, the Distinguished Clinician Award from the Capital Area Speech Language and Hearing Association, the Clarke College Outstanding Alumna Award, the Honor Award from the American Academy of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery and the Professional Advisor Support Award from the New York State Association of Self Help for Hard of Hearing People, Inc.
Dr. Wayner is the founder and professional advisor of H.E.A.R., Hearing Endeavor for the Albany Region, a self-help group for people with hearing impairment in the Capital District. In addition, she is Professional Adviser to the New York State Association of Self Help for Hard of Hearing People.
Dr. Wayner and her husband, Peter, are the parents of three grown children and six grand children.
