L. Doug Sime of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association�s 88th International Convention held in Hong Kong, June 27-July 1, 2005.
Director Sime is in the manufacturing, customer service and health department fields.
A Lion since 1978 and a member of the Bridgewater Lions Club, Director Sime has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chair, cabinet secretary/treasurer, Journey for Sight chair, LCIF chair, state convention committee chair, international convention committee chair, council secretary, council chair and district governor. Additionally he was a member of Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund, Inc.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards, including the 100% President Award, three District Governor Appreciation Awards, International President�s Leadership Award, International President�s Award and two International President�s Certificates of Appreciation. In 1998, he was the first recipient of the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund Sight Award. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Director Sime is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is currently a member of the Conservation Commission and Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund. In the past, he was a part of the Zoning Board of Appeals, Affirmative Action Committee, Industrial Development Commission, Town Audit Review Committee and Civil Defense-Auxiliary Police.
Director Sime and his wife, Vale, also a Lion and Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have two children, five foster children and four grandchildren. |
