Dr. Drossman is a world authority in the field of functional GI disorders. He is Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry and Co-Director of the UNC Center for Functional GI & Motility Disorders (UNC School of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology). He has published more than 350 books, articles and abstracts on functional GI disorders (including Rome I, Rome II and Rome III) and received numerous awards. He serves on several editorial boards and is GI section editor of the Merck manual and Associate Editor of Gastroenterology. Dr. Drossman received his medical degree from Albert Einstein, completed his residency at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and New York University-Bellevue. Dr. Drossman is Chair and President of the Rome Foundation, Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the International Foundation for Functional GI Disorders (IFFGD), Past Chair of the Nerve-Gut Section of the AGA Council and Founder of the Functional Brain-Gut Research Group (FBG), a special interest section within the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA). |
