Doug brings more than two decades of experience in business and government to our government relations and public affairs work. He served for nine years as a senior staff member of the U.S. House of Representatives focusing on health care, taxation, transportation and international trade. Doug also gained valuable experience working with the House Ways and Means Committee. He later put his government experience to work in the corporate sector. For seven years, Doug worked in the information technology industry as a corporate public affairs, communications and marketing professional for IBM, and as an executive for a startup software firm. At IBM he led public affairs and communications efforts for public sector industry groups, and managed federal and state government relations in a 15-state region. At Capstrat, Doug has achieved a stream of important wins for clients. With his guidance, one major corporation made a successful bid for the state�s largest technology contract. A nonprofit organization won ownership of a historical lighthouse on the Outer Banks. He also manages a 50-state government relations program for a financial services company. A registered lobbyist at the state and federal levels, Doug brings substantial insight to every government affairs issue. Doug holds a B.S. in political science from Appalachian State University. As a 2000 Eisenhower Fellow, Doug studied the role of business in influencing technology policies in Singapore and Australia |
