Doug Murphy joined Corus Entertainment Inc. as Executive Vice President, Business Development for Nelvana in December 2002. Mr. Murphy oversees all of Nelvana�s sales, marketing, merchandising, music, and publishing activities.
Mr. Murphy is a seasoned business executive who builds strong teams and has demonstrated success in both domestic and international markets. He has over 10 years of experience in senior positions with The Walt Disney Company in North America and abroad, with a proven track record in business development and revenue growth.
Previously, Mr. Murphy was Senior Vice President, Business Development, Theme Parks and Resorts for The Walt Disney Company where he led the development of Disney�s international growth strategy for the Parks and Resorts segment for the years 2005 to 2015. Prior to this, he was Senior Vice President and General Manager for The Disney Store, North America. In this role, Mr. Murphy led the turnaround strategy, focusing merchandising initiatives while cutting costs and reducing inventory. As Vice President and General Manager of The Disney Store Japan, based in Tokyo, Mr. Murphy oversaw the strategic growth of the stores from 22 to 77 units, becoming the largest foreign-owned retailer in Japan as of 1998.
An entrepreneur in many respects, Mr. Murphy launched The Disney Store Canada and developed The Walt Disney Gallery. Prior to Disney, he created the original Chapters Bookstore Caf� in Toronto in 1986.
Mr. Murphy holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School, a HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, and is a native of Toronto. |
