Douglas Tanner is the head of the Global Securities Group of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. Prior to coming to the New York office, Mr. Tanner was, successively, the managing partner of the Hong Kong and Palo Alto offices of the firm. He was also Head of the firm's Asia corporate practice, overseeing mergers and acquisitions work and debt and equity offerings in the Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo offices. Mr. Tanner also previously practiced corporate law in Los Angeles, New York City and San Francisco.
After graduating from the Stanford Law and Business Schools, Mr. Tanner practiced in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, handling high technology public offerings and private placements and venture capital fund organization and investments. He subsequently spent time in New York, Los Angeles and nine years in Hong Kong, representing issuers and underwriters in equity offerings, high yield and convertible debt offerings, cross border debt restructuring and mergers and acquisitions and structured capital markets products. Mr. Tanner also has represented private equity and hedge funds in fund formation as well as a broad range of investments in industrial and technology companies.
In 2006, Mr. Tanner represented AerCap Holdings N.V., a company controlled by Cerberus, in its $600 million initial public offering and listing on the New York Stock Exchange and represented the underwriters lead by Citigroup and JPMorgan in the $736 million initial public offering and listing on the New York Stock Exchange by Genesis Lease Limited, a company split off from GE Commercial Air Services.
Mr. Tanner has been a frequent speaker internationally on corporate topics. He received his JD degree from Stanford University School of Law and also received an MBA degree from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He is a past member of the California State Bar Corporations Committee. He is qualified to practice law in California and New York. |
