Doug Holmes, VP and COO of Hy9 Corporation (developers of onsite generators to make pure hydrogen for industrial users now and fuel cells users soon) has expertise in a wide variety of technologies, with degrees in chemistry, chemical engineering and applied physics. Dr. Holmes' former consulting firm, minergy associates, helped small manufacturing companies with both technical and managerial issues, including industrial ecology, energy conservation, renewable energy technologies, pollution prevention and process (re)design to lower costs and lessen the environmental impact of operations. An expert on solar energy applications, he is a member of the Board of Advisors of Konarka Technologies, Inc., and is former member of the Board of Directors of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association. Following several years of teaching, he worked twenty years in engineering, R&D, product planning, marketing and corporate management at the Polaroid Corporation, responsible for several major projects involving product and process design, factory construction, startup and debugging. He is an author, lecturer and inventor, educated at Rice University, M.I.T. and the Technical University of Delft (The Netherlands).
