Douglas E. "Doug" Barnett is senior vice president, Finance for UGS PLM Software (UGS), a division of Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D). UGS is a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services with 4.4 million licensed seats and 47,000 customers worldwide. Headquartered in Plano, Texas, UGS' vision is to enable a world where organizations and their partners collaborate through global innovation networks to deliver world-class products and services while leveraging open enterprise solutions, fulfilling the mission of enabling them to transform their process of innovation.
In his current role, Barnett is responsible for helping the company integrate into the Siemens family as it relates to finance and accounting. He previously served as UGS' senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer, a position he held for four years. In that role he was responsible for the company's domestic and international financial operations, planning and analysis, including accounting, treasury, taxes, audit, investor relations, internal controls, SEC reporting, purchasing, real estate, risk management and corporate administrative functions.
Barnett came to UGS from Colfax Corporation in Richmond Virginia, where he served as CFO between 2002 and 2003.
Barnett's original association with UGS began in 1998 when he was appointed Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Unigraphics Solutions, a subsidiary of EDS that was later merged with SDRC and eventually spun off as the company now known as UGS. During 1998, he was responsible for leading the successful initial public offering of Unigraphics Solutions (NYSE:UGS). In addition, he led the successful strategic acquisitions of dCADE, Applicon and EAI.
Prior to UGS, Barnett was the Vice President, Finance of Giddings & Lewis Inc., the largest supplier of industrial automation products in North America. His responsibilities have included strategic planning, financial planning, business development, treasury, accounting, tax, information technology, risk management, internal audit, investor relations and SEC reporting activities.
Before joining Giddings & Lewis, Barnett worked for The First Boston Corp., Van Kampen Merritt Inc. and Price Waterhouse. He has served in positions as acting CFO, Vice President-Corporate Controller, Corporate Treasurer, Corporate Finance Associate, Portfolio Manager and Senior Accountant.
Barnett received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois and a Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, tennis, golf, reading and traveling. Doug Barnett lives in the Dallas area with his wife, Clare, and sons Bryan, Mark and Wills. |
