Douglas Stewart is a Managing Director of Cary Street Partners in Fredericksburg, Virginia. His firm, formerly known as Stewart Wealth Management Group, merged with Cary Street Partners on June 25, 2007. Douglas' division currently manages over $600 million in assets for individuals, corporations, and endowments. The combined assets under management at Cary Street Partners reached over $1 billion with the merger of the two firms. Prior to the creation of Stewart Wealth Management Group, Douglas served 10 years as Branch Manager of the Fredericksburg retail office of the former Wheat First Securities, before it was acquired by First Union/Wachovia Securities in 1998. Since 1988, he has consistently been ranked in the top 1% of all Advisors within the firm. He was recognized as one of the firm�s top Branch Managers in 1996. In 1999, he was also acknowledged by Registered Representative magazine as one of the top 10 Brokers in the country. In 2005, Virginia Business Magazine recognized Douglas's inclusion in R. J. Shook�s book The Winner�s Circle as one of the top 5 Financial Advisors in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He received that recognition from The Winner�s Circle again in 2006. Douglas is Chairman of the board of Fredericksburg Academy, George Washington�s Fredericksburg Foundation, and the Mary Washington Hospital Foundation. Additionally, he is a founding member of the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region and a board member of the Virginia Tech Athletic Foundation. Over the course of his career, Douglas has also served as a Trustee of St. George�s Episcopal Church and a Director of Virginia Heartland Bank. Douglas was born and raised in Blacksburg, Virginia. He is a member of the 1983 graduating class of Virginia Tech where he received a B.S. in Business. He resides in downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia with his wife, Cathy, and their three children. |
