Mr. Deems has nearly 20 years of complex insurance claims development, valuation and negotiation experience. He has extensive experience working with Fortune 500 companies in the US and Canada on both first-party and third-party insurance claims, including asbestos, pollution, human health (APH), and business interruption. Doug practiced law for eleven years, with Peterson Ross and then Pillsbury Madison & Sutro. Doug's insurance and reinsurance expertise encompasses a broad array of insurance claims in several industries, including manufacturing, defense, aircraft, transportation, petrochemical and services.
He has personally handled environmental, asbestos, toxic tort, personal injury, advertising injury, reinsurance, construction, fidelity, surety, first-party property damage and business interruption claims. Mr. Deems has lectured to professional groups on matters of insurance claim valuation, reinsurance issues, emerging insurance claims and strategic approaches to maximize claim value.
Prior to founding The Claro Group, Doug's previous professional experience included managing director in the Insurance Claims Group of LECG, LLC and partner with Arthur Andersen. Doug also practiced law for 11 years, the last six of which were with Pillsbury Madison & Sutro, one of California's oldest and largest law firms. He is general counsel for The Claro Group.
Doug received his AB degree in Economics from Occidental College and his Juris Doctor degree from Hastings College of the Law. |
