Douglas Edwards, PhD, was named General Manager and Vice President, Prepress Solutions, Graphic Communications Group, and Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company in October 2006. From April 2005 to October 2006, Doug was General Manager and Vice President, Prepress Consumables, Graphic Communications Group. Since April 2005, all business and financial targets have been exceeded.
Before joining Kodak, Doug was Vice President, Research and Product Development, New Business and Strategy Development for Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG), a 50/50 joint venture between Eastman Kodak Company and Sun Chemical Corporation. From April 1998 through 2001, Doug was KPG Vice President, Research and Product Development. During his time at KPG, Doug commercialized many of Kodak's market-leading digital consumable products, now with annual revenues of over $1.5 billion.
Doug joined KPG in 1998 from International Paper's Imaging Products Division. He spent 2 years with worldwide responsibility for technology and product commercialization as Horsell Anitec's Vice President, Product and Manufacturing Process Development. Before joining International Paper, Doug spent 8 years with Zeneca Specialties and ICI Colors & Fine Chemicals in the U.K. in a variety of senior marketing, manufacturing and research positions. Doug started his industrial career with Ilford Ltd, Ciba-Geigy in 1985 as a research chemist, and has a number of scientific papers, patents and a couple of book chapters to his name.
Doug gained his PhD in 1985 from the University of London in superconducting organic materials, sponsored by Ciba-Geigy and the British Government's Science & Engineering Research Council. Doug also has a BSc in Chemistry from London University.
