Doug Ford was elected to Suncor�s Board of Directors at the annual general meeting in April 2004. He is a member of Suncor Energy's board policy, strategy review and governance committee and the human resources and compensation committee.
Mr. Ford brings a wealth of refining and marketing experience to the Suncor board. Prior to retiring in 2002, he was the chief executive, refining and marketing for BP plc. Based in London from 1998 to 2002, he was responsible for the refining, marketing and transportation network of the company, as well as the aviation fuels business, the marine business and BP shipping. He was appointed to the board of BP Amoco in January 2000.
Prior to the merger of BP and Amoco, Mr. Ford held a number of senior positions during his 30-year career with Amoco, most recently as executive vice president of Amoco Corporation with responsibility for Amoco�s petroleum products sector and worldwide engineering and construction operations.
He currently serves on the board of directors for USG Corporation, and Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the University of Notre Dame.
A native of Danvers, Massachusetts, Mr. Ford holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and a PhD in chemical engineering from Northwestern University.
He and his wife Kathleen reside in Downers Grove, Illinois.
