Douglas Rockel, 47, is President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Roots, Inc., a private commercial real estate development and investment company.
Previously, Rockel was a senior vice president with ABN Amro Securities, which acquired the U.S. investment banking, trading and equity research operations of ING Barings, LLC. He was responsible for developing and maintaining the firm�s involvement in the transportation area, with a particular emphasis on the motor carrier and railroad sectors. Rockel has been recognized several times for his research efforts by Institutional Investor and the Wall Street Journal, and has participated in numerous private placements, mergers and acquisitions, and institutional equity and debt underwritings of transportation securities.
Before joining ABN Amro/ING Barings, Rockel was affiliated with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith in New York as senior vice president, and with the Mercantile Trust Company in St. Louis, Mo., for eight years. Formerly, he served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Aviano, Italy for three years.
Rockel earned his bachelors degree in finance at Indiana University.
