Duane Carlisle enters his third season with San Francisco after being named the team�s assistant strength and conditioning coach on March 10, 2005. Carlisle is responsible for directing all of the speed, agility and conditioning programs for every position on the team. Carlisle also assists Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Johnny Parker with the implementation of the 49ers� lifting programs throughout the season. Additionally, Carlisle partners with Team Nutritionist Dr. Suzanne Nelson to implement the team�s comprehensive sports nutrition program. He also assists the 49ers� athletic trainers with reconditioning injured players as they prepare to return to the playing field. During the 2006 and 2007 off-seasons, Carlisle and Parker received an overwhelming response to their spring/summer conditioning program with nearly 100 percent player participation. The 14-week progression of exercises is designed to build muscle size, strength and stamina while keying on position-specific speed and proper nutrition. Carlisle, the president and founder of Lightning Fast Training Systems, is one of the leaders in the area of athletic performance training. He has spent the last 14 years pushing athletes to perform to their maximum potential. Carlisle recently served as the speed development consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles (2000-04). He was also the head speed, strength and conditioning coach for the Philadelphia Charge of the Women�s United Soccer Association and the speed, strength and conditioning consultant for Major League Lacrosse�s New Jersey Pride (2001-2003). Additionally, Carlisle was the speed development coordinator with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1997-98) and the sprint and jump coach at Penn State University. Carlisle got his start in the NFL in 1995 when he was the Philadelphia Eagles strength and conditioning intern, and later a seasonal assistant in the same capacity from 1996-97. He has prepared numerous players for the NFL Combine including Pro Bowlers such as Philadelphia RB Brian Westbrook, Kansas City Chiefs RB Priest Holmes, Seattle Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck and former Chicago Bears CB Jerry Azumah. Carlisle has also served as the director of strength and conditioning at the prestigious Lawrenceville Boarding School in Lawrenceville, NJ (2000-04). Carlisle is a native of Haverhill, MA and was a track and field athlete at the University of Maryland. He graduated in 1989. |
