The law firm of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. mourns the loss of Dudley J. Godfrey, Jr., a founding partner of the firm, who passed away on Thursday, December 20. "Dudley was a man very much ahead of his time who believed that lawyers should understand their clients' businesses and measure their success as lawyers by the success of each client," said Rick Bliss, Managing Partner. "He was also remarkable for his willingness to direct the spotlight away from himself and to those around him. Our concepts of teamwork, client service and dedication to each client's success can be traced back to the beginnings of our Firm and to the way Dudley lived his life. His contributions to our firm and to the success of our clients are immeasurable." Dudley had focused his practice on estate planning, taxation and corporate law. He received his preparatory education at the University of Wisconsin and his legal education at the University of Michigan Law School. He was listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the corporate law and tax categories, and was a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association. He was admitted to practice law in Wisconsin in 1952.
