Dwight Floyd concentrates his practice in litigation, including government and regulatory issues. He has litigated cases against governmental agencies in state and federal court including challenges to statutory and regulatory schemes. He has also conducted various administrative appeals at the state and local level. He handles a variety of matters for his clients including business torts, contract disputes and intellectual property disputes. He has also been involved in wrongful death and personal injury suits for clients in the manufacturing and service industries.
With his scientific background (he holds a BS and MS in the biological sciences), Mr. Floyd brings an uncommon perspective and practicality to many of the disputes on which he advises, particularly those involving science and technology issues. He also uses that experience to advise clients regarding the often extensive requirements and ramifications of electronic discovery in commercial litigation as well as the use of experts and their opinions in discovery and at trial.
Mr. Floyd is a graduate of the Trial Advocacy Institute offered by the National Trial Advocacy College and the University of Virginia School of Law. During law school, Mr. Floyd was a member of the managing board of the Virginia Journal of Law and Technology. Prior to joining Parker Poe, Mr. Floyd practiced in Atlanta, Georgia, primarily in the areas of products liability and technology litigation for software, automotive and pharmaceutical companies.
