Earl Weiner has been a partner in Sullivan & Cromwell's Corporate & Finance Group since 1976. He has broad experience in international financial and investment transactions, having represented clients in Latin America, Asia, Australia and Europe in connection with cross-border securities offerings, acquisitions, joint ventures and major contract negotiations. Mr. Weiner has extensive experience in the investment management area. He regularly represents registered investment companies and their independent directors, including the independent directors of most of the funds managed by Alliance Capital Management L.P. He is on the American Bar Association Task Force on the "Fund Director's Guidebook" and is the co-author of "Directors' Duties and the Discount," 8 Investment Lawyer 1 (2001). Mr. Weiner currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and of The Acting Company. He is also a trustee of The Brooklyn Hospital Center and Green-Wood Cemetery and is on the Board of Visitors of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. Mr. Weiner served as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965.
