Ed Smith is Chief Executive Officer of INTEC Engineering, joining the Company on October 22nd. Ed has almost 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with an emphasis on international development in challenging political, physical and economic environments. Immediately before joining INTEC, Ed spent a two year period as a senior diplomat with the US Department of State addressing the reconstruction and development efforts in Afghanistan. Ed believes his strengths in strategic thinking; problem solving, team building, technology and leadership will contribute to INTEC's future, helping to add value for INTEC's clients and its owners. Prior to his two year tour with the State Department, Ed held executive positions in pipeline and technology fields with Unocal and BP before branching into a 15 year international energy project development career track. While on this path he directed programs and projects centered on multi-billion dollar, cross-border, international, oil and gas pipelines requiring extensive political, financial and commercial risk mitigation challenges. It was during this period that Ed led the London-based GE Capital/Bechtel pipeline development joint venture championing the ill-fated Trans Caspian Gas Pipeline efforts. He also was the project executive responsible for the early development of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, currently the largest privately owned crude oil pipeline in the Former Soviet Union. Ed holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology; an MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Business. He is a private pilot, holds a US Coast guard Captain's License, roller blades, plays ice hockey and always tries to buy the latest electronic gadgets. |
