Eddy Goldwasser, Founder and Advisor, presently serves as an advisor to Small World Toys, Inc., the 30-year-old toy company he established in 1974 and grew to its current status as a manufacturer and distributor of toys to the specialty toy market with a strong brand identity and approximately $30 million in annual revenues. On May 24, 2004, Small World Toys was acquired by Savon Team Sports, Inc. and Goldwasser stepped down from his position as CEO. Goldwasser entered the toy business 40 years ago while he was still a college student working for Simplex Toys, a small regional company selling exclusively European toys to independent specialty toy stores in California and several Western states. After eight years with Simplex, Goldwasser founded a second company, Small World Toys, with the goal of aggressive growth. Goldwasser initiated significant changes, including building a national sales force that transformed sales from a regional to national level and adding products purchased from Hong Kong and Japan to its European line which allowed the company to grow. Small World Toys increased its market share and made a strategic shift from European products to those from the Far East as that region solidified its position in the toy industry. The next step in Small World Toys' development took place in the early 1990's as it acquired more exclusive product lines to distribute and developed its own packaging. Subsequently, the Company established its own product development department which has successfully created new products and brands, resulting in strong brand recognition in the specialty toy market for Ryan's Room, Gertie Balls, I.Q. Baby, Puzzibilities, and All About Baby. |
