Edgar G. Hotard joined the Board of Directors in May 1999. Mr. Hotard is an independent consultant/investor, the chairman of Monitor Group (China), and a venture partner with ARCH Venture Partners. He retired as president and chief operating officer of Praxair, Inc. in January 1999 where he was first elected president in 1990.
Mr. Hotard serves on the executive board of the board of directors of the US China Business Council. He is a former chairman of the board of the Compressed Gas Association and president of the International Oxygen Manufacturers Association.
Mr. Hotard is a co-founder of the China Technology Alliance, the founding sponsor of an Executive MBA program between Remin University in Beijing and the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a member of the Presidents Circle of the Asia Society. In December 2000, he received the Great Wall Friendship Award from the municipality of Beijing, China.
Mr. Hotard holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University.
