Experience:

Edward Williams is a litigator who represents corporate and individual clients in state and federal courts and in arbitration proceedings. His practice encompasses a wide variety of matters, with a particular focus on accountant malpractice, commercial transactions, breach of contract, business torts, injunctive proceedings and entertainment law. Ted has extensive experience in all aspects of civil litigation. He has tried cases involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, products liability, consumer fraud, real estate transactions, employment matters and partnership matters.

Ted joined Mayer Brown in 1993 and was promoted to partner effective 2002.

Notable Engagements:

Arthur Andersen LLP. Represented Arthur Andersen in a variety of disputes with former partners in judicial and arbitral proceedings.

Caterpillar Inc. Represented Caterpillar in a variety of disputes involving suppliers, buyers, and other commercial matters.

Accounting Malpractice. Represented Deloitte & Touche LLP, Arthur Andersen LLP, Ernst & Young LLP and Grant Thornton LLP in a wide variety of matters involving allegations of accountant liability.

Markarian v. Markarian, et al., Circuit Court of Cook County, Chancery Division. Trial counsel for plaintiff, one of two shareholders, in a dispute regarding ownership and control of a closely held corporation. Court held plaintiff entitled to enforce shareholder agreement granting him control.

Arbitration between two manufacturing companies. Trial counsel in an action to apportion the relative fault between it as designer and the manufacturer of the equipment for personal injury loss resulting from use of the equipment. The results are confidential.

Markarian v. Markarian, AAA Arbitration, Chicago, Illinois. Trials counsel for defendant, one of two shareholders in closely held corporation, against claim of breach of fiduciary duty and other claims. Award in favor of client on breach of fiduciary claim as well as other claims.

O'Brien v. Edison, et al, Circuit Court of Cook County, Law Division. Trial counsel for plaintiffs in a case arising from a real estate transaction that failed to close. Plaintiffs prevailed on all issues.
