Edward J. Peterson, III was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and was educated at Kenyon College where he received his B.A. in 1995 and at the University of Alabama where he received his J.D., magna cum laude, in 1999. He was admitted to the bar in Alabama in 1999 and is also admitted to the Northern, Southern and Middle Districts of Alabama and the Northern, Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. Edward joined Stichter, Riedel, Blain & Prosser, P.A. after four years with the firm of Bradley Arant Rose & White, LLP in Birmingham, Alabama. While at Bradley Arant, Edward appeared on behalf of creditors in a number of large bankruptcy cases, including Kmart, Service Merchandise, Encompass Services Corporation, Just For Feet, CEI Roofing, and The Resort at Summerlin. He also assisted in the representation of J.A. Jones and 57 of its subsidiaries in Chapter 11 cases filed in Charlotte, North Carolina, involving over $3 billion in creditor claims. In less than a year, Jones sold as going concerns over a dozen major operating divisions and numerous other assets for more than $1 billion in total consideration. He also worked on the Pride Restaurants, LLC Chapter 11 case involving a chain of fast food restaurants, and a Chapter 9 case involving the representation of a theme park owned by various municipalities. More recently, Edward assisted in the representation of the Unsecured Creditors' Committee in the Anchor Glass Container Corporation bankruptcy case, a case involving several hundred million dollars in debt. Currently, Edward represents the Alpha Resolution Trust that was created pursuant to the confirmed Plan of Reorganization filed by Anchor Glass. The Trustee has been successful in reducing filed and scheduled claims by approximately $100 million and thereby potentially increasing distributions from an anticipated 6% of allowed claims to an anticipated 9.5% of allowed claims.
