Edward L. Kuntz, Director. Since 1999, Mr. Kuntz has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kindred Healthcare, Inc., a long term healthcare provider. From 1998 to 1999, Mr. Kuntz served in several other capacities with Kindred, including serving as President, Chief Operating Officer, and as a director. From 1992 to 1997, Mr. Kuntz was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Living Centers of America, Inc., a leading provider of long term healthcare services. After leaving living Centers of America, Inc., he served as an advisor and consultant to a number of healthcare services and investment companies, and was affiliated with Austin Ventures, a venture capital firm. During Mr. Kuntz�s tenure as a director of Kindred Healthcare, Inc., the passage and implementation of the Balanced Budget Act caused the rates of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements to decrease. As a result, Kindred Healthcare, Inc. was unable to meet its rent and debt service obligations. On September 13, 1999, it filed a voluntary petition for protection under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Kindred emerged from bankruptcy in April, 2001. Mr. Kuntz has a Master of Law, a Juris Doctor, and a Bachelor of Arts from Temple University. |
