In his current capacity, Mr. Maloney will plan, develop and manage content for all Xynyx projects. Before joining Xynyx, he spent three years as the Senior Producer of the NFL and Boxing arenas for CBS SportsLine. In this position he was responsible for managing the production, developing original content, and creating strategic alliances for the SportsLine's No. 1 destination (NFL), which generated $4 million in annual advertising revenue and averaged 300 million page views in-season. His expertise and business connections in boxing allowed SportsLine to be the No. 1 source for boxing information content. Under his guidance, the boxing section grew by 700% in three years. He's responsible for business creating relationships that produced the first live video webcasts, on location, for world championship fights. Prior to SPLN, he was the Sports Editor / Producer for Newsday.com, the online entity of Long Island Newsday, the 7th largest daily newspaper in America. In 1994, he was selected to be a member of the paper's new Electronic Publishing Department, which evolved into the Internet site. He spearheaded several major projects including the 1995 US Open (golf), the Oklahoma City Bombing and the award-winning coverage of the TWA Flight 800 crash off Long Island in 1996. Before being promoted to EP, he built a solid foundation in journalism as an editor in Newsday's nationally acclaimed sports department. He handled a variety of duties, spending his last three years in sports as the assistant manager of the paper's award-winning High School sports section. Since 1990 he's been a feature writer and columnist for The Ring, KO and World Boxing magazines. He has covered world championship fights in Las Vegas, Europe, Australia and Mexico and has attended two Summer Olympic Games. He is a recognized boxing authority, is a consultant to the International Boxing Hall of Fame and has edited several books on the sport. For three years he also managed the boxing channel for Prodigy. He earned a BA in English / Communications from Niagara University. |
