Elaine P. Spector is an associate in the firm�s Intellectual Property Practice Group, and recently a former associate of Burns Doane Swecker & Mathis, LLP, one of the oldest and largest law firms in the United States focusing exclusively on intellectual property. She has more than 10 years of experience in patent prosecution, litigation, and other aspects of intellectual property, including trademark prosecution, patent infringement and validity analysis, and opinion writing. Elaine also has experience in patent interference matters before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Representative Cases
Weck Closure Systems, Inc. v. Primesource Surgical, et al. obtained favorable settlement for patent owner in patent infringement case involving a medical device.
Gus Sclafani Corp. v. Violet Packing Co., obtained favorable ruling from the TTAB concerning client's priority of use.
Genise v. Desautels, represented prevailing party on the issue of priority in a patent interference proceeding before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences.
In General. Elaine received her bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland in 1993 and her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1996. She is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia and before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Elaine is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Elaine is a member of the Intellectual Property Section of the American Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
