Ms. Elana Foster has over 10 years experience as a scientist. She is the manager of the forensic science department at RJLG. She joined the company in 2001 as a member of the analytical chemistry department and moved into forensics in 2003. She has received extensive training in the preparation, interpretation and analysis of gunshot residue (GSR) by Scanning Electron Microscopy. She analyzes GSR by Computer-Controlled Scanning Electron Microscopy, and Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectroscopy techniques. At test firings of firearms related to casework, she collects, prepares and analyzes GSR samples and interprets and reports the results to clients. She has qualified as an expert witness in the states of Alabama, California, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Ms. Foster is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, Mid-Atlantic Association of Forensic Scientists, International Association for Identification and the American Chemical Society. |
