Dr. Sigurdson is a Senior Member in the Department of Surgical Oncology of the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA. She is an expert in the fields of colorectal cancer and breast cancer.
Dr. Sigurdson serves as the Surgical Principal Investigator for the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) and is the Surgical Co-chair of the Gastrointestinal Committee of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG). She serves on the Data Monitoring Committee of the RTOG, which monitors ongoing clinical trials. Dr. Sigurdson is the Principal Investigator for Fox Chase Cancer Center in the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG). She serves on the Hepatobiliary Guidelines Panel for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). She is a member of ASCO and the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) and has served on the SSO Board of Executives. She is an editor of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Sigurdson is a graduate of the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada and received a Ph.D. in chemistry from the Imperial College, London, England. She received her medical degree from the University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada, and completed her surgical residency at the University of Toronto. She completed a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, and was a surgeon on the Colorectal Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. She is a Fellow of the American Board of Surgery, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Canada).
