Ms. Lane holds a J.D. (University of Maryland), M.S. in Genetics (George Washington University) and B.S. in Microbiology (University of Maryland). A former patent examiner and law firm associate, Ms. Lane also has over a decade of corporate experience, including serving as Senior Patent Counsel for Akzo Nobel Pharma and IP Attorney for Shire Laboratories, Inc. Ms. Lane returned to Panacea in 2005 to help develop and implement the Company's programs and strategies to maximize and preserve its intellectual property. Ms. Lane has extensive experience in patent prosecution, obtaining over 300 patents in such fields as vaccines, immunodiagnostics, pharmaceuticals and molecular biology, as well as drafting and negotiating dozens of licenses and collaboration agreements with pharmaceutical companies, universities, and the federal government. Ms. Lane spent six years as a researcher, mainly at the National Institute of Mental Health, where she studied protein polymorphisms as markers of central nervous system diseases using state-of-the-art proteomic techniques. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Intellectual Property Law Section, and the Maryland Patent Lawyers Association. |
