Elisabeth (Lisa) Lang enters her second season as the 49ers Vice President of Communications.
Lang oversees a number of functions at the 49ers, including public relations, community outreach, employee communications and the 49ers Foundation. She is responsible for overall communication planning to strengthen relationships with the community, fans, season ticket holders, corporate sponsors, government officials and employees. Lang also handles media relations for business and community issues, is a member of the team�s new stadium planning group, serves as the club�s primary spokesperson on business issues and is the liaison to the 49ers Community Advisory Panel. Since joining the 49ers on November 1, 2005, Lang has spearheaded a number of community programs, including the team�s Respect campaign to inspire youth to demonstrate respect for their families, schools and their communities. The 49ers players, coaches and staff participated in 134 community activities throughout the 2006 season, donating 2,580 hours of volunteer towards the Respect initiative. She has also helped sharpen the focus of the 49ers Foundation by concentrating its efforts on keeping San Francisco Bay Area youth safe, on-track and in school. This past season the Foundation distributed more than $1.2 million to non-profit organizations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and teamed with the 49ers Community Relations Department to provide auction and raffle items for fundraising events to another 1,200 non-profits last year. Lang recently won the 2007 San Jose Business Journal�s Woman of Distinction Award. She serves on the Board of the Mission City Community Fund in Santa Clara and is a member of the Bay Area Council. Lang joined the 49ers with over 20 years of experience in organizational and marketing communications for major brands. She has held top communications jobs in the consumer software, telecommunications and publishing industries. Most recently, she was Vice President of Corporate and Marketing Communications at Intuit, the Mountain View, CA-based makers of Quicken and Turbo Tax software. During her five years with Intuit, she oversaw the successful launch of dozens of consumer and small business products, led the effort to establish the company�s privacy policies, created a brand strategy and helped establish the Intuit Foundation and employee giving programs.
Lang also had a 13-year career at Pacific Bell (now known as AT&T) where she quickly rose through the ranks from staff manager in 1983 to Vice President in 1991. For over seven years she led Corporate Communications for Pacific Bell and then for the entire Pacific Telesis Corporation. She oversaw a department of 85 communications professionals and the launch of new lines of business, including voice mail, Internet services and cellular phones. She also unveiled Pacific Bell�s partnership with the San Francisco Giants for the new ballpark, developed the company�s business ethics program and managed the consumer advisory process. Prior to joining Pacific Bell, Lang handled a variety of promotional responsibilities as Director of Public Relations for Ms. Magazine in New York City. Lang is a graduate of The Ohio State University. She resides on the Peninsula with her husband and two children. |
