Eliza has extensive experience in providing financial, valuation, and economic consulting services, primarily in the context of business disputes and litigation. She has consulted clients in several industries including healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, insurance, and industrial products.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Huron, Eliza was a consultant at Arthur Andersen LLP. Representative examples of Eliza's engagement experience include:
Prepared reports on the hedge fund industry, including an overview of the dynamics of and risks inherent in market-neutral investing. Used Monte-Carlo simulation techniques to demonstrate the range of investment results possible.
Created pro-forma financials and valuation models to project the performance of a telecommunications company, but-for actions taken by its parent. Utilized discounted free cash flow, comparable company, and transaction multiples analysis.
Valued the impact of a business interruption on a financial services firm. Extrapolated sample findings of cost increase to the firm and projected lost revenues though the use of regression analysis.
Constructed operations and pricing analyses to identify the price and cost combination thresholds for factory shutdowns in the pulp and paper products industry.
Wrote and contributed to industry primers and expert reports used in litigation within the following industries: automotive refinishing paints, title and automotive insurance, financial services, telecommunications equipment and services, hospital, and pulp and paper products.
Conducted evaluations and analyses of the Medicare reimbursement reporting practices of the largest U.S. for-profit hospital chain and its cost reporting systems, including benchmarking the client's performance to its competitors in the healthcare industry.
Calculated a mathematical inequality, based on the binomial distribution, demonstrating the opposing expert's incorrect application of Bernoulli trials to show the likelihood of intellectual property infringement.
Validated the statistical significance of sample results in calculating the financial impact of a business interruption on the client's operations. This included running tests for statistical bias introduced when all members of the sample could not be tested and validating the use of stratified extrapolation.
Conducted sensitivity and scenario analyses, to assess the exposure and value of a nationwide dispute involving the automobile insurance industry.
Created an exposure calculation program (with graphic user interface) for use by attorneys in negotiation.
Computed monthly performance measure statistics of a telecommunications incumbent versus competitors and assessed the viability and accuracy of measure criteria to compute the prescribed performance statistics.
Prepared a report outlining the damages caused by faulty products and the implied future insurable value of unidentified damages.
Eliza is also the claims administrator for the Forty-Eight Insulations Qualified Settlement Trust, having supervisory responsibility for all claims reviewed and paid by the Trust. She oversees the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, the annual audit, payment of trust expenses, and management of assets.
