Elliot Blumenthal's practice focuses primarily on complex civil and white-collar litigation. Prior to joining Buchanan, Elliot served as of counsel in a leading litigation boutique in New York, where he practiced in the areas of criminal law and civil litigation.

Recently, Elliot has:
Successfully represented Battery Park City Authority in a commercial arbitration relating to a lease dispute with its tenant and sub-tenant; obtained unanimous arbitration decision worth in excess of $20 million to the client.
Represented the respondent in a corporate dissolution matter in the Commercial Division of the Westchester County Supreme Court that settled favorably after two days of trial (Matter of Sansome Estates, Inc.).
Successfully represented publicly traded American Building Maintenance Co., Inc. at trial in the Commercial Division of the New York County Supreme Court and through appeals in a contract dispute with a major New York City real estate developer; a $3 million jury verdict was affirmed on appeal.
Acted as litigation counsel to a large international bank with respect to a half-billion-dollar commercial dispute arising out of the production of liquefied natural gas in Indonesia.
Represented a defendant in a major Southern District of New York narcotics trafficking trial, and successfully defeated prosecution request for a life sentence.
Represented the mother in a high-profile child-custody trial in New York County Family Court, where the Appellate Division First Department reversed the trial court decision based upon the trial record and granted custody to the mother.
Additionally, Elliot currently represents a large national bank in New York state and federal courts in several cases seeking to protect the bank's liens on disputed properties and as a claimant in a forfeiture case.
Elliot has published articles regarding various aspects of federal criminal law, including analysis of the federal sentencing guidelines.
