Elliot Silverman is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's Orange County office. As a member of the Trial Department, Elliot concentrates his practice in the areas of appeals, complex commercial litigation, white-collar criminal defense and tax controversies.
Elliot has successfully represented individual and corporate clients and agencies of foreign governments in a broad range of civil and criminal disputes involving securities, federal and state taxes, RICO, banking, arbitration, international trade, antitrust, unfair competition, contracts, fraud and other complex commercial matters. He has handled cases in federal and state courts throughout the United States and before various administrative agencies and tribunals, and has successfully argued numerous appeals in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second and Ninth Circuits, other federal courts of appeals, and the New York State and California appellate courts.
Elliot is the co-author, with Robert S. Fink, of the treatise Tax Fraud: Audits, Investigations, Prosecutions, published by Matthew Bender, and has authored numerous articles in the N.Y.U. Institute of Federal Taxation, the New York Law Journal, the Journal of Taxation and other publications.
He is admitted to practice in the States of New York and California, and before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Ninth Circuits, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Central and Southern Districts of California and the United States Tax Court.
