Rick Hernandez is President and CEO of Inter-Con Security Systems, Inc., one of the largest, most widely respected security services providers in the world. Employing over 25,000 in North and South America, Africa, and Europe, Inter-Con specializes in the provision of high-level security systems and services to government, utilities, and industrial customers. Clients include military bases, nuclear generating facilities, U.S. embassies and diplomatic missions, healthcare facilities, and general commercial and industrial facilities. In 1993, he was named by the then newly elected Los Angeles Mayor, Richard Riordan, to sit on the Board of the Police Commission where he served as President through 1995. He is also Co-Founder and Principal Partner of Interspan Communications, a television broadcast company, which provides advertisers access to the Hispanic market in the United States.
A native of Los Angeles, Mr. Hernandez graduated from Loyola High School, a distinguished Jesuit college preparatory school located in Los Angeles. Subsequent to Loyola, Mr. Hernandez attended Harvard University where he graduated with honors, and was named a Harvard National Scholar. Mr. Hernandez went on to attend Harvard Law School, from which he graduated in 1980 with a Juris Doctoris.
Upon completion of his formal education, Mr. Hernandez began his legal career as a litigation attorney with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in Los Angeles. He left that firm as a fifth year associate to join his father at Inter-Con Security Systems, Inc., the company his father founded following his own career with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Mr. Hernandez's corporate associations include service on the Boards of Directors of several New York Stock Exchange companies: Wells Fargo & Company (WFC), McDonald's Corporation (MCD), Tribune Company (TRB) and Nordstrom, Inc. (JWN) where he is Chairman of the Board. His civic commitments include: Chairman, Board of Regents, Loyola High School Los Angeles, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles; Member, Board of Trustees, University of Notre Dame; and, Committee Member, Harvard College Visiting Committee and Harvard University Resources Committee. |
