Eric B. Garfield is Vice President of the firm's Los Angeles office. He supervises real estate valuation engagements within FMV's real estate valuation group. Mr. Garfield entered the field of commercial real estate in the early 1990s and is licensed in California, Nevada and Arizona as a Certified General Appraiser. In addition to his appraisal licensure, Mr. Garfield is licensed in the State of California as a Real Estate Salesperson and is an Associate Member with the Appraisal Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Garfield has fulfilled all basic requirements for designation as a Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI). Mr. Garfield is also Vice-Chairman, of the Western Branch of the Southern California Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.
Mr. Garfield has performed valuations on an array of property types including Class A office buildings, industrial buildings, sports arenas, skilled-nursing facilities, assisted-living facilities, shopping centers, hotels and land. He has performed valuation analysis and consulting assignments for financing purposes, litigation support and internal decision-making. His past clientele has included attorneys, lenders, developers and private investors. Mr. Garfield has testified in depositions and provided background research for litigation involving real estate.
Prior to joining FMV Opinions, Mr. Garfield served five years as a Supervising Senior Consultant of the Forensic Real Estate practice for KPMG LLP in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Garfield also spent two years as a broker with Marcus & Millicap REIBC in Southern California.
Mr. Garfield received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Southern California. He also received his Masters of Business Administration in Real Estate Finance from the University of San Diego and his Masters of Public Administration from the California State University Northridge.
