Eric D. Herschmann, 44, is senior executive vice president of Southern Union Company, a position he has held since November 2005. In that role, he oversees day-to-day operations and all merger and acquisition activity. Herschmann also chairs the company�s operating committee. He served as interim general counsel of the company from January 2005 until November 2007, supervising all legal aspects of the business.
Since 1996, Herschmann has been a partner at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP, where his practice focuses on complex commercial, environmental and securities litigation and regulatory proceedings. Herschmann has been national lead litigation counsel for Southern Union since 1999.
Prior to going into private practice, Herschmann was legal counsel for Citibank, NA�s Corporate Audit department, where he oversaw significant risk investigations, and served as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney�s Office, where he investigated and prosecuted cases for the Investigative Division, Rackets Bureau and Special Narcotics Prosecutor�s Office.
Herschmann earned a Juris Doctor from the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law in 1987 and a bachelor of arts degree, cum laude, from Yeshiva University in 1984.
