H. Eric Bolton was named Chairman of Mid-America Apartment Communities, Inc. (NYSE: MAA) on October 1, 2002, having assumed the duties of Chief Executive Officer one year earlier. With over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, he has a wide range of both operational and financial management experience. Mr. Bolton has been a member of Mid-America�s management team since April of 1994, having joined shortly after Mid-America�s initial public offering. As Director of New Development, he contributed to the company�s aggressive growth period from early 1994 to the present, and in 1997 became President, Chief Operating Officer and a Director of the company. Mr. Bolton has extensive multi-family real estate experience in the areas of new development, redevelopment, acquisitions/dispositions and property management. He was named the National Multifamily Executive of the Year for 2002 by Multifamily Magazine.
