Mr. Brielmann�s transaction experience has included representing: SIRIUS Satellite Radio with its proposed merger with XM Satellite Radio; Public Storage with its acquisition of Shurgard Storage Centers; PeopleSoft in its defense against Oracle�s unsolicited hostile takeover; Express Scripts with its unsolicited offer to acquire Caremark; Cisco with its acquisition of Scientific-Atlanta; Novartis in its acquisition of Chiron; Saucony regarding its acquisition by Stride Rite; Ceridian with its proposed acquisition by THL Partners and FNF; Longview Fibre related to its acquisition by Brookfield Asset Management; Houston Exploration with its announced acquisition by Forest Oil; Angiotech Pharmaceuticals with its acquisition of American Medical Instruments; Computer Horizons in its defense against a dissident shareholder group; Atlantic Coast Airlines for its successful defense against Mesa Air Group�s consent solicitation; and Post Properties with its defense against a proxy contest by the company�s founder.
Mr. Brielmann has advised clients on communications issues regarding litigation and special situations, including ADVO with its legal defense against Valassis and Ceridian with its legal defense against a dissident shareholder. Mr. Brielmann also served as a media advisor and spokesman for NTP Incorporated, an intellectual property firm that successfully litigated its claims against BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion and is currently involved in intellectual property litigation against Palm.
Mr. Brielmann�s ongoing clients include: Morgans Hotel Group, the original boutique hotel company; Basic Element, a Russian diversified holding company with assets such as Russian Machines around the globe; White Mountains, a Bermuda-based financial services holding company; and Catterton Partners, a leading consumer focused private equity firm whose interests have included leading brands such as Fr�d�ric Fekkai, Sleep Innovations and Build-A-Bear Workshops.
Prior to joining Joele Frank, Wilkinson Brimmer Katcher, Mr. Brielmann worked for Vice President Gore�s 2000 presidential campaign, first as Executive Assistant to the General Chairman and later for the vice presidential candidate, Senator Joseph Lieberman. Following the general election, Mr. Brielmann spent a month in Florida participating in the 2000 election recount.
Mr. Brielmann has provided pro bono public relations counsel to the Hetrick-Martin Institute, home of the Harvey Milk High School, when HMI was preparing to launch its new, publicly-funded New York City high school. Mr. Brielmann received a B.A. from the University at Albany and an MSc from the London School of Economics. |
