Eric Kea is a tax partner at Imowitz Koenig & Co., LLP (IK & Co). Eric began his career in 1993 and joined IK & Co in 2007. Prior to IK & Co, Eric was a tax partner at an international accounting firm, where he served in multiple roles. Eric was in charge of the real estate tax practice for the New York City office, the chairman of the national partnership consulting group, and was in charge of national partnership training. Eric is an expert in partnership and real estate taxation. Eric has provided consulting and compliance services to equity and mortgage REITs, consulting regarding partnership allocations pursuant to the �704(b) regulations, �704(c) built-in gain/loss regulations, and structuring like-kind exchange transactions to allow certain partners to cash out of their investment while other partners defer gain recognition through a like-kind exchange. Eric�s client base includes REITs, real estate funds, real estate owner-operators, and hotel companies. Eric has also developed and taught numerous courses related to partnership and real estate taxation. Eric holds a Bachelor�s of Science in Accounting from Mesa State College and a Master�s of Taxation from the University of Denver. Eric is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT). |
