Erika Geimonen, PhD, MS is Assistant Director for Life Science, Office of Technology and Industry Relations for Stony Brook University. Dr. Geimonen is responsible for the university�s research infrastructure which has been highly successful in developing a suite of technology transfer initiatives and economic development programs ranging from Research and Development collaborations and technical assistance to licensing and new enterprise development. Dr. Geimonen is also responsible for managing a portfolio of intellectual property for life sciences that includes biological materials, advanced materials and novel chemical entities. She functions as an active liaison between scientific investigators and commercial partners, promoting and facilitating industrial relationships. Prior to that Dr. Geimonen held different scientific positions at Stony Brook University working in the fields of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Virology. Before that she was a Fellow at the Department of Medical Chemistry, Helsinki University, Finland. Her education is complemented by both a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Moscow State University, Dept. of Biochemistry, School of Biology, Russia and a M.S. in Management and Policy from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Geimonen is a recipient of several awards from American Society for Virology, the Society of Gynecological Investigation and other international societies. She has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Geimonen is a frequent speaker in the United States and Europe. Dr. Geimonen�s affiliations include member of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), and Member of the Licensing Executive Society (LES). Dr. Geimonen is fluent in English, Russian, Estonian and conversational Finnish. |
